Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Warriors Party

Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of characters, and a exciting storyline including angels, fiends, and dark forces expanding in power within the city.

Note: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 are included.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

Episode 3 concluded with a dramatic pause and presented the first table of heroes who will split off from the main group to begin their separate journey, apart from the additional parties.

This warrior group includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

Dividing the Cast

Given a large ensemble, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at the same party would be unworkable.

Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Warriors, Planners, and Questers.

The Nature of the Soldiers Table

According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where diplomatic options are scarce.

At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might look out of place, but the events of the latest installment show why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

First, the team knows exactly where to head next after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.

Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—used the foes for his own means, invading the secret base, assaulting Thimble, and swiping all the magical artifacts to sell off.

The traitor then cleared his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.

Individual Reasons

Additionally, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, desires vengeance.
  • The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and advises that it is a nasty location.
  • The warrior and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead saved him, have no other options.
  • Yet, their reputation as important members in House Halovar could assist the group enter places they usually can’t.
  • Additionally, Teor pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now accompany him anywhere.

Fugitives

Finally, all of them are sought by the rulers that govern the setting for a multiple motives, making remaining behind dangerous:

  • Thimble and The hero are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and The healer betrayed the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • The fighter is marked for death by the clan.

This means them few options but to head to Timmony in search of the antagonist.

Future Episodes

From the latest episode’s follow-up content, we learn that the combat party will be absent the following episode, leaving the remaining eight players to round up the Questers and Schemers parties.

Viewers can look forward to learning which characters will be where in the story’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on October 24.
